As I write this post I’ve been sat in Tony’s Superman dressing gown for hours feeling totally uninspired, not knowing what to write about.
I don’t often struggle with ideas, in fact usually the opposite. Normally I have so many ideas I just can’t possibly cover them all.
This week I haven’t been feeling like I have anything worthwhile to say. It’s not a confidence issue, I just feel a bit meh. A little flat on the creative juices.
I’m being going through life a little frustrated with stuff that’s going on and I forgot something important. My why.
There is only one way to live a fulfiling and happy life and that’s knowing you’re why. Why you do the things you do?
If I write a blog post, but I don’t know why I’m writing it, then no matter the success of the post it’s not going to be fulfiling.
So I went inwards and kept asking myself ‘why’. Loads of stuff came up but I kept asking myself until I knew I’d hit the nail on the head. Until I was certain I had the right answer. Then it was easy to know the sorts of posts I needed to write.
Something that I know with all my heart is the way to fulfilment is full circle living. Intentional living. Making decisions and taking action with purpose. Not just floating along and hoping for the best.
The way I define full circle living is there are four key areas. Four areas which all take up a quarter of the circle. When you take care of all four everything rolls along nicely. The circle is whole and you’re fulfilled. Break a piece off and everything is off balance.
The 4 Quarters:
Relationships have a massive impact on how we feel. Everything could be going great, but if you have no one to share it with then you miss out on the feeling of connection. Us humans need connection.
You don’t need to have a significant other, but good relationships are important. Whether that’s a close-knit family, a few good friends or you’re part of a community it’s fulfiling to have people to share the good times with. People to be there to support you through the low times.
Have you ever walked into a room and it’s felt uncomfortable? There is a clear atmosphere and it’s not a good one. Our environment is so important to our happiness. This could be a home that actually feels like a home or a place of work you actually feel appreciated. It’s being with people who bring out the best in you and not around toxic energy. Gossip breeds bad energy and brings no joy or fulfilment. Your vibe attracts your tribe has never been truer.
How much joy you get from your career will affect how fulfilled you are. If you’re doing a job you hate that you aren’t going to fill very fulfilled. However you could love your career choice, but if you can’t pay the bills then you’re unlikely to be very happy either. Both need to be sorted.
Lastly, if you don’t take care of yourself then you ain’t ever gonna feel good. Wealth is health and all that. That doesn’t mean you need to become some fitness frantic that only eats whole foods. It does mean whatever is self-care for you, needs to be a priority. That could be going to church (not my bag, but works for some), spirituality, eating healthy, reading, exercise, meditation and generally taking care of yourself. You know what makes you feel good so it’s doing that. Whatever that might be.
What To Do Next
Work on all four areas daily. Made an intentional decision to do something that will better that area of your life. Have one daily goal for each area of the circle.
The goals don’t have to be anything grand. I’d actually recommend very small subtle goals, but with one condition – they have to be something that lights you up. Something that makes you feel proud knowing you’ve taken action to make your life the best it can be, with the tools you have.
The emphasis needs to be on it feeling good and totally in ‘Yalance’ for you. It’s not about unachievable tasks, quite the opposite in fact. It’s about intentional living. Alignment. Purpose. Seeking joy. What will you do today that will make yourself feel proud, whole, aligned and living a full circle life?
Do something every day for single day for all 4 areas and things will shift. The idea is you pick something that will make you feel good for having achieved it. It needs to be do-able without pressure. Ease is beautiful. Choosing something you know is going to help you get to where you wanna be, but you’ve been putting off doing it.
Here are some examples of what you could do for each category.
- Listen and be fully engaged with someone you love. No distractions.
- Make a phone call to someone you’ve not spoken to in ages.
- Send a letter or gift to a loved one.
- Go to that social event.
- Arrange that overdue catch-up.
- Take 10 minutes to connect with yourself. Read a book. Meditate. Walk in nature.
- Light a candle, play some music. Make your home feel hygge.
- Cancel plans with someone who doesn’t make you feel good. Don’t reschedule.
- Tidy up. Make your environment nice.
- Rest and take a moment for you. Recharge. Take greens shot.
- Diffuse some aromatherapy oils.
- Spend time with someone who always lights you up. Facetime if that’s not possible.
- Look into something you’re curious about.
- Do something you’ve been thinking about doing for your career.
- Set yourself a career goal.
- Check your finances and plan ahead. Put some money in a savings account.
- Watch something inspiring.
- Take the 1st step towards stepping out your comfort zone.
- Stop doing things that make you unhappy.
- Get some fresh air.
- Do something today to go after your dreams.
- Be compassionate with yourself.
- Listen to an empowering podcast.
A fulfilled life takes lots of internal work and intentional action, but the 1st step is getting started on deliberation creation on the life you want. It won’t be easy, there will be obstacles, but when you start living a fulfilled life you’ll realise the challenges were worth it tenfold.
Your dreams are worth the work 🙂
