CHOOSE TO RISE
A poem by Kirsty Dee
Sometimes you’ll be knocked down,
Sometimes you’ll be hurt,
Sometimes people will screw you over
or at least it will feel like that.
Choose to rise.
There will be days when everything feels great,
They’ll be days when you wanna say “fuck this shit”
and they’ll be days where you just need a break and you’ll sob.
Choose to rise.
There is greatness in the pain.
There is strength in the sorrow
and beauty in the hardship.
It’s all necessary for you to know your true power.
Choose it all.
Choose to rise.
When people hurt you, steal from you and don’t value you, see the gift in it all.
Their weakness made you stronger.
You’re a warrior, wiser and all the more incredible for all you’ve been through.
Your pain matters, but it’s time.
Choose to rise.
Someday soon you need to walk your own path.
Someday, maybe today, or tomorrow, but when you choose to rise don’t look back.
Look sideways if you must, but let it be a glance, not a distraction, you ain’t ever going sideways.
Go forwards always. Everything will connect and make sense. It’s your time.
Choose to rise.
