This year I’ve been on a mission to be healthier, I feel like that’s all I’ve gone on about in my monthly goals and other posts recently.
Anyhoo, my go-to healthy snacks are the Nakd cocoa bars hands down. I have one pretty much every day and I even choose the Nakd company as my favourite food brand last year for my 2016 favourites.
Well, with all that in mind you can imagine how over the moon I was when I was kindly sent a bundle of Nakd products as well as some Trek snacks to try.
Now, I always stick to my trusty cocoa Nakd bars as I know I love those, so, to be honest, I’ve not really tried a lot of the other flavours.
The bundle was the perfect opportunity to taste test more of the product range. I got the whole family involved because when it comes to taste we are all gonna like different flavours – so I thought it would be good to see what everyone else thought.
First off I’ll start with the Trek snacks. These were a massive hit with my youngest Clark which made me so happy because he’s ridiculously fussy. In all honesty, when it comes to food it can be quite stressful with him.
Trying to get anything remotely healthy is usually met with a very cross toddler who seems to think the world has ended at the mere suggestion of eating something he doesn’t seem to think is gonna be nice. He will go hungry rather than even try it if he doesn’t like the look of it. Kids eh?
These all made the cut with Clark. Phew. This made me really happy as they are 1 of your 5 a day, have no added sugar, cold-pressed and vegan too. They are all gluten, dairy, and wheat free for those with food allergies.
Trek Taste Test
Trek Peanut Power Wholefood Energy Bar
Now, unfortunately, I hate the taste of peanut so understandably I didn’t like this. Tony and the kids did and they described it as mild peanut flavour with a sweet and dry texture.
Trek Morning Berry Protein Flapjack
This one was crunchy, fruity with a sharp berry taste. Nice if you fancy something a little different.
Trek Toffee Triumph Protein Energy Chunks:
I don’t mind toffee, but it’s not something I particularly like so these weren’t really my thing either, however, the toffee flavour is quite mild so if you like that sorta thing then these are definitely worth a try. They went down well with the kids, tasting sweet and crunchy.
Trek Cranberry Kick Protein Energy Chunks:
I kept these for after a sweaty workout as they contain 12g of protein so a good post-workout snack. These have a dry texture and sweet with the dates and raisins with a strong cranberry kick.
Nakd Taste Test
1st off let’s start with my favourites the cocoa bars. These bad boys I adore and eat pretty much daily not because they are all-natural ingredients and one of your 5 a day but because I genuinely just love them.
It’s not just to be healthy I eat them (that’s just an added bonus that keeps me sane on my health journey) it’s just they feel like a treat for me. I’m just as happy eating these as I am a chocolate bar.
Nakd Cocoa Orange Bar:
So let’s be honest I did not share these with the kids, I waited until they weren’t around so I didn’t have to share. Some things are too good to share. These taste just as they sound, chocolatey with a hint of orange.
My favourite chocolate is Terry’s chocolate orange so it makes sense that I’d love these. It’s the perfect alternative if you’re trying to kick a chocolate habit.
If you don’t like chocolate tasting bars then these will be too rich for you. My husband for instance despite liking chocolate doesn’t like chocolate flavour foods, which to be honest totally baffles me. Anyway, these aren’t for him, whereas I’m the opposite and love them and feel like crying if I have to share.
Nakd Cocoa Mint Bar:
Nope, didn’t share this one either. Also, too good for sharing. Has an After Eight flavour. So moreish.
Nakd Rhubard & Custard Bar:
This bar is lovely and moist with a strong rhubarb flavour. Another popular one with Clark.
Nakd Cashew Cookie Bar:
This one was Tony’s favourite. I didn’t like this one as it was too nutty for me, but if you like nuts then it’s a good one to try with a strong nut flavour and a mild fruit flavour to it. Smooth but nutty.
Nakd Christmas Pud Bar:
As the title suggests this has a Christmassy taste. It reminds me of a fruit cake with a Christmas spice. Total Christmas cake vibe.
Nakd Strawberries & Cream Nibbles:
These were Peta’s favourite. She loved these. They have a soft, smooth texture and the flavour reminds me of the strawberry and cream sweets you can get but obviously, the texture is very different.
Nakd Toffee Treat Nibbles:
These have a sharp toffee flavour and just like the other nibbles are soft too. You can also taste the fruit.
So all in all, if you’re looking for a healthy snack on the go I think there is something for everyone from the Nakd and Trek Range.
You can find Nakd and Trek products in most supermarkets, but they also sell the bundles online here with free UK delivery too.
Disclaimer: I was sent these products in exchange for a review, but as always all opinions are my own.
